Jennifer De Leon Guest Lecture

November 3, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

In an effort to build community and an understanding of the diverse world we live in, Mitchell Elementary School is hosting local author Jennifer De Leon to discuss two of her books, Don’t Ask Me Where I’m From, and White Space. Through the power of storytelling, Ms. De Leon will share her insight about a METCO student in a majority-white suburban school district, among other topics related to inclusivity in our schools and community. De Leon was born and raised in the Boston area to Guatemalan parents. After a decade teaching in Boston Public Schools, she is now an Assistant Professor of English at Framingham State University and a faculty member in the MFA Program in Creative Nonfiction at Bay Path University. Mitchell’s B.REAL (Belonging, Race, Equity, Access, Leadership) and Boston Family & Friends committees are hosting the dialogue to serve as a catalyst for community building. This adult-only event is free on Thursday, November 3, at 7 p.m., in the Mitchell Elementary Media Center. Donations are welcome to support future B.REAL events.
